The Butterfly Effect

A poem

I often feel, and ever more deeply I realize, that fate and character are the same conception. -Novalis

The Butterfly Effect
Tickles the edge of my perception
A single flap changes the course
Of every life conception

I do not believe in fate
Unless one’s character is attached
Who we are and what we do
In the universe stands unmatched

The butterfly boldly flies
With each flap, she gracefully moves
Deterministic chaos
Her character is her groove

So as I stand before you
Steadfast to remain
Character, a synopsis of my actions
Places perspective in a frame

I walk the earth with humility
With amends made to all I harmed
With confidence and my head held high
With love and grace and charm

Expectations are illusions
Plans for God to laugh
If you feel my exclusion
You were toxic in my past
